Socially eating at Social Eating House London
Hats off to Jason Atherton! I loved his latest outpost in Soho, Social Eating House. The name fits perfectly to the neighbourhood and so is the place. Let me first start with interiors: It is artsy chic with an eclectic, contemporary design with a soul. It has hidden surprises like the bar upstairs “Blind Pig” , with a speakeasy vibe and a wide list of cocktails. And downstairs…I loved everything about it..First of all service was impeccable (same level as the fine dining sibling Pollen Street Social), staff were friendly but not “over”friendly. And the food…We were 5 people and we couldn’t have enough. Literally. We kept ordering and ordering. Locally sourced ingredients curated into perfect recipes just as you could expect from Jason Atherton. You can find new takes on classic comfort food like truffle macaroni&cheese and sophisticated dishes like scallop ceviche. I still daydream about the smoked hummus…yum.
It was not just about the food though. The vibe of the place was great. A great choice for a night out in London. Suitable for a friends night out (proof above), pre and post theather or with a date. I guess you see we were all smiles that night…
Loved it.
Cool factor: Food, food, food.
