181 stairs to heaven
It’s not always easy to find cool spots. Websites can do magic and turn nothing but small and sometimes even hideous places into uber-stylish wonders. “Trip Advisor”ish ranks do help but how to trust whether they have same level of expectations as us. Therefore, I do trust just a very small number of people when they talk about the coolest hotel, the yummiest restaurant, etc. And I do trust what I see and what I experience. Here is a gem in Turkish Mediterrenean, Kalkan. A place that never fails. A place of consistently amazing experience. Villa Mahal.
Villa Mahal’s wonder definitely lies first on its amazing location. Kalkan, a small town in Turkey’s South is a rare known gem with its magnificent seaside. Villa Mahal located by the sea, within trees and terraces overlooking an amazing view is the jewel of the crown. You stay in beautiful, elegantly decorated rooms. Everything is so simple yet beautiful and service is great. Fresh, local produce served at breakfast and the dinners… Dinner by the sea is one of my all time favourites.
For me the cool factor of Villa Mahal is its unbeatable location and beautiful design. For my husband it is the serenity of the place and impeccable service.
Mind the steps though. As they gorgeously put that on their uniforms you should take 181 steps up and down to reach heaven aka climbing up and down from your room to the beach. just that you know: It is definitely worth the effort!

Some of you may know, Villa Mahal once made it to the cover of Conde Nast so beware of the waiting list when you decide a last minute stay. Enjoy:)

Mahal definitely deserved a post in your good blog and I agree with all your comments about serenity, superb service and unique design. Yet one cool (ok not that cool when you put it that way) thing is the fresh food and best ever dishes out of the stone oven. It is worth 700 kilometres + 181 stairs!
